I was very excited for my first pregnancy, but also had a lot of questions and anxiety about how little I felt I knew vs. the vast sea of information (often contradictory) available online. Having Meredith as my birth doula changed everything! Our two prenatal home visits were essential to feeling more knowledgeable and empowered about my changing body and all that I could do to be as ready as possible for my birth physically, mentally, and spiritually. Understanding all my choices and options for labor and knowing Meredith would be at my side the whole time helped me have a positive and confident labor and delivery experience. She supported me through many hours of early labor at home, guiding me in movement and positioning, so my time at the hospital was shorter/easier due to my body being more ready. I cannot recommend Meredith more highly as a birth doula!!

Meredith was an amazing advocate. She knew just what to say and do AND when to say and do it. She was willing to jump on the phone to chat when my doctor said it was time to schedule an induction in the time leading up to labor. She was accessible via facetime and text messages when I was laboring at home and she was willing to be on the phone with us when we were in triage at the hospital.

She encouraged new positions, when we were at home, in early labor, which helped to keep labor progressing when it slowed. At one point, Meredith suggested lunges and squats over a text message. My husband and I did lunges together down the hallway and deep squats, which felt like a turning point. She encouraged new positions in the hospital and provided counter pressure/ lower back massage that helped comfort me. Meredith understands the pelvis well and was intune with the space that my body was making for the baby. She also understands how to move to make space for the baby because every position that she recommended helped to progress labor.

Meredith was also supportive of my husband, giving space for him to take more of the lead support role, taking over when he needed a moment, and encouraging him to provide loving support.

10/10 would recommend!

Hiring Meredith as our doula was one of the absolute best decisions we made for our labor/birth plan. We strongly felt that it was important to hire our own support person (who would be able to travel with us wherever we ended up delivering), and we are so happy we did. We were able to get to know Meredith and begin to form a bond with each other during our two prenatal visits (where we cooked together, discussed fears/hopes/wishes, and shared information/resources). That being said, nothing can bond you as much as the experience of actual labor and delivery. Meredith provided physical and emotional support, humor, reassurance, empathy, and guidance when we were unsure of what to do next or what to expect. When we transferred from the birth center to the hospital, Meredith was able to aid in communication between us and the hospital staff when we were overwhelmed. Now that we have had the experience of giving birth, we cannot imagine not having a doula (or, specifically, Meredith as our doula). Her services were completely invaluable. Should we decide to have another child in the future, we will absolutely be hiring Meredith again.
